At Blinding Lights in May, Colby Carter successfully defended the Pro Wrestling Symphony Men's Title against Jeremiah Plunkett in the main event. After the match, Plunkett shook and raised Carter's hand as he promised he would, only to then stab him in the back, dropping him with a piledriver, and taking out referees, security guards, and ring announcer Pat Dooley. Plunkett claims he was disrespected by Carter and that his show of respect was rubbing his face in the loss, but his actions led to a suspension. Plunkett would subsequently attack Carter after his defense against Bruss Hamilton at Resistance, then confront him after his win over O'Shay Edwards at Free For All.
