At Toxicity in September, Shane Mercer picked up a controversial win after throwing a fireball in Mad Dog Connelly's face. Connelly returned the favor at Demon Days in November, using his dog collar to choke Mercer into unconsciousness in their No Holds Barred match. The two continued to brawl after the latter, emptying the locker room to separate them and leading Symphony management to announce the rubber match between the two would be held at On Holiday inside a steel cage!
